Day 28: Progress, Perfectionism & the Work Beneath the Work

Happy Day 28, everyone! As we head into this final Friday of the Reset Challenge and into the weekend, it’s a good time to think about how you want to close out the month.

I feel incredibly accomplished when I look back at everything I’ve done this month. I’ve made progress, created healthier habits, pushed myself, and shown up in ways that make me proud.

But that doesn’t mean there haven’t been bumps in the road.

Sometimes you make a plan and life changes it. Sometimes you’re working toward a goal and something unexpected gets in the way. You get sick. Your priorities shift. You run out of time. Or something simply doesn’t come together the way you imagined.

That doesn’t diminish your progress.

The fact that you’re continuing to try, adjust, and put effort into yourself matters. This reset was never about doing everything perfectly in 30 days. It was about putting better habits into motion so we can carry them with us into the fourth quarter and beyond.

And now comes an important part: reflection.

Where did things not come together the way you wanted? Was it genuinely outside of your control, or were you getting in your own way?

That’s where a little shadow work can be powerful, because sometimes the habits we uncover aren’t the ones we expected to find.

For me, one of those realizations has been around spending and accumulating things. I live in a small home, and I’ve realized that continuously buying and adding more isn’t good for my space or my long-term financial goals.

But when I dig deeper, I don’t think this is really just about spending.

It’s about consumerism. It’s about continuously wanting the next thing. And it’s about asking myself: What am I actually trying to fulfill by constantly adding more?

Like many people, I struggle with perfectionism. I want things to be perfect, feel perfect, look perfect. But perfection is an impossible finish line. There will always be something else to improve, buy, change, organize, or fix.

Maybe part of my next chapter isn’t about adding more.

Maybe it’s about realizing when I already have enough.

So as we head into the final days of this reset, take another look at your goals. Where did you thrive? Where did you struggle? Where might you have been self-sabotaging? And what did this month teach you about yourself that you want to carry into the next season?

Sometimes the biggest progress isn’t checking another goal off the list.

Sometimes it’s finally understanding why that goal was there in the first place.

What are you taking a second look at as we close out the month? ❤️
