Day 17: They’re Not Coming With Me

Happy Day 17 of our reset. 🤍

It’s Monday, and Mondays always feel like an opportunity to get ahead.

Sometimes, I love using Monday to tackle the big projects, do a little more than usual, and set myself up for a smoother, more successful week.

Other Mondays? I’m exhausted. I need to move slowly, take it easy, and simply do what I can.

And I think both versions count.

Wherever you are today, remember that every step, large or small, is making a difference. Because what we’re really doing through this reset is setting ourselves up for a new life.

I had a moment today that made me realize just how true that is.

While cleaning out one of my closets this afternoon, I came across a pair of shoes I’d been holding onto for almost eight years.

They weren’t particularly comfortable. They weren’t really in style anymore. And if I’m being completely truthful, there was absolutely no reason for me to still have them.

Except they were mine.

I remember wearing those shoes eight years ago and feeling so fashionable, polished, and professional. They represented a version of myself that, at the time, I was really proud to be.

But today, I looked at them and realized something:

That’s not the woman I am anymore.

So I put them in the donation bin.

And as silly as it sounds, I had this very clear thought:

They’re not coming with me to my new life.

That moment made me realize this reset has become about so much more than checking off goals, tracking habits, organizing closets, working out, saving money, or trying to become more productive.

It’s about deciding what belongs in the life I’m creating next.

Some things served an older version of me beautifully. Some things hold wonderful memories. Some things I once thought I’d keep forever.

But that doesn’t mean they need to come with me.

There’s something incredibly freeing about realizing that you’re allowed to outgrow things. Clothes. Habits. Possessions. Expectations. Even versions of yourself.

You can appreciate who you were without continuing to live like her.

So on Day 17, that’s my challenge for you:

What isn’t coming with you?

And maybe even more importantly, what is?

What does your new life look like? What are you excited to celebrate there? And what are you doing today, even if it feels incredibly small, to set yourself up for tomorrow?

For me, today it was just a pair of old shoes.

But somehow, it felt like a whole lot more. 🤍
