Reset Day 9: Changing the Plan Doesn’t Mean Changing the Goal

A well-organized walk-in closet with a large round mirror, wooden furniture, and an assortment of clothing and accessories.

Happy day nine of our reset!

As I reflect on this first week and start moving into week two, one thing I’ve noticed is that while I had every intention of hitting all of my milestones, sometimes you have to step away from one goal and pivot your energy toward another. And I thought that would be the perfect topic to talk about today.

For me specifically, I’m having to take a few days off from my normal workouts because I recently had my eyebrows done. If you know anything about the healing process after microblading, you know that you’re not supposed to get your eyebrows wet for several days, and it’s recommended that you keep your workouts very light.

So instead of getting frustrated that I can’t keep up with my normal workout routine, I decided to take that energy and put it toward another goal that could use some extra attention.

One part of my personal reset is getting my house more organized and decluttered. I’ve been slowly going room by room, really looking at what I own and trying to downsize the things I no longer need, use, or love.

Today, that meant tackling my closet.

I managed to organize 10 bags of clothing that needed to go, and it felt so good. My closet is finally becoming a space filled with things I actually love and can see. The entire space already feels like it’s transforming, and honestly, there’s something incredibly satisfying about letting go of things that are no longer serving you.

I’m definitely not finished with my organizing, so over the next couple of days, while I’m taking a break from my heavier workouts, I’m going to put a little more energy into this part of my reset.

And I think that’s really the lesson for today: sometimes progress requires a pivot.

We can start these challenges with a list of goals and the best intentions, but life is going to happen. Maybe you have an injury. Maybe you’re not feeling well. Maybe you’re exhausted. Maybe your schedule suddenly changes. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed or that you need to abandon everything you’ve been working toward.

Give yourself some grace and ask yourself: If I can’t put my energy here today, where else could I put it?

Maybe you aren’t feeling your best physically, so you focus on rest and self-care. Maybe your nutrition hasn’t been where you want it to be, so you look for small ways to add more movement into your day. Maybe one area of your reset simply needs to take a back seat while another gets a little more attention.

It doesn’t need to be perfect.

The point is to keep moving forward, even if moving forward looks a little different than you originally planned.

I hope this gives you a little inspiration for Day Nine. I’d love to hear where you’ve had to pivot, make adjustments, or redirect your energy during your own journey.

Remember: changing the plan doesn’t mean changing the goal.
