Happy day eight of our reset! I hope you all are having an amazing weekend.
We’ve made it eight days into the reset, and while we still have so much further to go, sometimes you have to take a moment, reflect, and simply be proud of everything you’ve accomplished so far.
Just to recap my own personal journey, I’ve had a few of my larger beauty appointments completed. I’ve been working on my health and fitness by completing a Pilates challenge, which I’m about halfway through. I’ve been eating well, taking good care of myself, implementing small habits every day, and tackling some much-needed organizational efforts.
Throughout the month, we’ll dive into each of these areas a little further. But today, I thought we’d continue our conversation around beauty and focus on the smaller things you can do at home.
I think there’s sometimes a misconception that beauty requires these huge investments or that taking care of yourself has to be incredibly expensive. And while certain treatments absolutely can be, there are so many little things you can incorporate into your routine that can make you feel more put together and cared for.
One of the things that has been really helpful for me, specifically as I work on my hair journey, is incorporating rosemary oil before my hair-wash days. I’ll apply the oil to my hair and scalp, usually the morning of or a few hours before my shower, and let it sit before washing it out. Rosemary oil has become popular as part of scalp and hair-care routines, particularly for those focused on supporting healthier-looking, stronger hair. For me, it’s simply become another small ritual in taking better care of my hair.
Another easy beauty practice is dermaplaning. If you’re not familiar with it, dermaplaning removes the fine peach fuzz and some of the dead skin from the surface of your face. It can help makeup apply more smoothly and leave your skin looking fresh and exfoliated. You can purchase small facial razors designed for this purpose, and there are also electric facial razors available. Of course, if you have particularly sensitive or reactive skin, do your research and make sure you’re using a method that works for you.
And then there are eyebrows. I know we talked a little bit about my own eyebrow journey and microblading, but eyebrows really do frame your entire face. Taking some time to understand your natural brow structure and finding a shape that complements your features can make such a difference.
There are plenty of tutorials available if you prefer to maintain your brows at home, but I personally recommend seeing a professional at least initially if that’s within your budget. Having someone properly shape your brows can give you a great foundation, and from there, maintaining them yourself becomes much easier.
The last area I want to talk about is nail care. With nail appointments becoming increasingly expensive, I know many people are choosing not to make regular manicures part of their beauty routine. But beautiful nails don’t necessarily mean elaborate polish, extensions, or expensive appointments.
Clean, well-kept nails can look incredibly polished on their own. I personally prefer nails to be shorter when I’m not wearing polish, with a focus on cuticle care, cleanliness, and keeping everything neatly trimmed. It’s such a small detail, but it can really elevate how put together you feel.
And I think that’s the theme for today: the little things add up.
Your beauty routine doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. Sometimes it’s an extra 15 minutes before you wash your hair, taking care of your nails at home, cleaning up your brows, or giving your skin a little extra attention. These small acts of maintenance can become another way of showing up for yourself during your reset.
I hope some of these suggestions help, and I’d love to hear what you’re doing in your own beauty regimen. Is there something small, affordable, or easy that you swear by that could help someone else on their journey?
Wishing you all the best weekend, and happy day eight of the reset!
