January Curations

Happy New Year, and welcome to 2026.

As we step into this new year, I’ve been thinking a lot about intention and how we shape our days, our rhythms, and ultimately ourselves. These monthly curations are a quiet invitation to slow down and notice what’s calling to you. Each month, I’ll gather the colors, textures, ideas, habits, and small fascinations that feel alive to me, offering them as creative sparks for your own becoming.

January arrives gently, wrapped in stillness. It carries both softness and severity, the hush of winter and the sharp clarity of cold air. When I think of this month, I think first of color. Icy blues feel calm and elegant, almost luminous. They hold both restraint and beauty, mirroring the season itself. Living in a cold climate teaches you how to find warmth in subtle ways, and this color feels like a quiet companion through the darkest stretch of the year.

Texture has been speaking to me, too. Cowhide and pony hair feel grounding and tactile, appearing in unexpected places such as clutches, cosmetic cases, coats, and trousers. There is something comforting in their weight and variation, a reminder that beauty often lives in imperfection and contrast.

Brown continues to anchor me. From deep mahogany to softened tan, it carries an earthiness that feels steady and familiar. For January, I am especially drawn to muted chocolate tones. They feel gentle, understated, and warm without being heavy. A color that understands winter rather than resists it.

This month is also about returning to the analog. About asking what we can make with our hands, our bodies, and our attention. What lives beyond the scroll. I am leaning into dance classes, more Pilates, more writing, and more time devoted to creating rather than consuming. These practices feel like small lights through the season, ways of staying connected to ourselves when the days are short.

Travel weaves its way in as well, not always as escape but as anticipation. January invites both rest and dreaming. I will be spending time in New York and Florida soon, and having something on the horizon always softens the edges of winter, offering movement where things can otherwise feel still.

And finally, there is organization, not as rigidity but as care. Clearing, donating, rearranging, and making space. Creating systems that support rather than constrain. I began this process in December, both physically and mentally, and I will continue shaping structure around my time, my home, and my energy as the year unfolds. Structure, for me, is a form of kindness.

This is the spirit I am carrying into 2026. Gentle focus, quiet intention, texture, warmth, and room to grow. I hope these curations offer inspiration as you consider where you are headed and who you are becoming.

Wishing you a restful and restorative start to the year. More soon.
