The holidays are behind us. I’m sure most of you have taken down your decorations. I most certainly have not. They’re still safely up, exactly where they belong. But I realized something this week. What I truly needed wasn’t more organizing or more planning. I needed a pause.
So I decided on a quick little getaway.
And maybe that’s something you need too.
Resets don’t have to be expensive. They don’t have to be complicated. Sometimes all they require is a quiet space and a few days away from your everyday environment. For me, that usually means sunshine. There are a handful of places across the country that I return to again and again. Places that feel familiar, comforting, easy. I know where I’m going, and there’s something grounding in that.
I love solo travel. I do it intentionally, as a way to reset. It’s time I spend with myself. I take myself out to dinner. I do exactly what I want to do. I move slowly. Even something as simple as deciding that on a Saturday I’m not rushing out of bed feels luxurious. Coffee in hand. Food Network on in the background. Letting the day unfold instead of pushing it forward.
Those are the moments I crave during a getaway reset.
And as tempting as it is to think a reset has to look like a Caribbean vacation or an elaborate itinerary, it really doesn’t. If that’s your thing, wonderful. But it doesn’t have to be. For me, a reset away is about rest. Real rest. It’s about remembering who I am when nothing is required of me, and reconnecting with the small things I genuinely enjoy.
If this is something you ever do, I’d love to hear about it.
Do you take solo getaways?
Where do you go?
What does your reset itinerary look like?
Wishing you the very best Saturday 🤍
