Navigating the Winter Uglies

Feeling pretty in the winter is not for the faint of heart. It can be one of the hardest seasons to feel pulled together, especially when it comes to beauty, aesthetics, and even weight. After the holidays, many of us feel a little drained, a little unkempt, a little cozy and soft.

There’s an old saying that winter makes summer bodies, and over the years I’ve really taken that to heart. Winter has become my season for building. A quieter time to focus on the things that are hard to prioritize once summer arrives and life shifts into fun, travel, and spontaneity.

When the temperatures drop and going outside feels impossible, I try to reframe this season as a reset. Skin is dry. Bodies need more care. Makeup suddenly feels like a full task. Instead of fighting that, I lean into it.

For me, winter is about repair and intention. I focus heavily on hair health since mine runs very dry, spending time oiling and repairing any damage. I also use this season for treatments I’d never want to do in the summer. Things like laser, microneedling, and IPL feel much more manageable now. I’m also in the middle of a microblading removal process, which has been surprisingly gentle, and winter has been the perfect window to commit to it.

This season feels less about instant glow and more about laying foundations. Building quietly. Tending to the things that support future confidence.

I’m curious what your winter “building season” looks like. Are you starting a new training routine, pushing yourself physically or mentally? Or are you leaning into rest, softness, and restoration instead? However you choose to move through this season, I think there’s beauty in honoring what your body and mind actually need right now.

Would love to hear what you’re focusing on during this slower, more inward time 🤍
