Christmas week is here—and yes, some of us are still working.

If you’re one of the unlucky souls navigating corporate calendars while everyone else is offline, you’re not alone. If you’re finding yourself hitting your head against the wall like I am, let’s talk about ways to divert your attention and bring a little joy into this quiet time.

For many of us who work with clients or across departments, this week is unusually calm. A meeting or two might linger today, but things tend to slow down quickly. I’ve learned to treat this lull as a gift rather than a frustration.

This is when I take stock.

I start by listing all the things I’ve been putting off:

Getting organized with client outreach Thinking through new firms or companies I want to target Finally watching that educational webcast I bookmarked months ago Recapping topics I rarely have time to go deep on during the year

It’s also prime time for a reset—both digital and physical. Cleaning up my office space, clearing out old emails, organizing apps, updating my contact list. Asking myself what still matters and what I’m ready to leave behind as the year closes.

While these next couple of weeks can feel quiet, disjointed, or even a little boring, they’re actually perfect for closing loops. For getting organized. For setting yourself up to walk into the new year feeling clear instead of rushed.

So if you’re working this week, maybe this is your permission slip to slow down just enough to reset.

How are you recentering yourself work-wise going into the new year?

Are there rituals, clean-up habits, or planning exercises you prioritize during this in-between time?
